Sunrisers Hyderabad secured a thrilling
four-wicket victory over Rajasthan Royals in their IPL 2023 clash in Jaipur on
Sunday, thanks to a magnificent final-over blitz from Abdul Samad. With just
six balls left and 17 runs required, Sandeep Sharma looked set to guide
Rajasthan to a win, but his foot went over the line on the last ball, granting
SRH a second chance. Samad then stepped up to the crease and smashed a six off
a full delivery, sending the ball soaring over the pacer’s head to seal the
victory for SRH. The team finished at 217/6, chasing down Rajasthan’s daunting
total of 214/2.
Glenn Phillips was another star performer for SRH, smashing 25 off just seven balls, including three sixes and a boundary in the penultimate over bowled by Kuldip Yadav. Henrich Klaasen also played a vital knock of 26 runs off 12 balls, while Rahul Tripathi contributed 47 off 29 balls. Abhishek Sharma and Anmolpreet Singh provided Sunrisers Hyderabad with a solid start in the 215-run chase, adding 51 runs before Yuzvendra Chahal took the first wicket in the form of Anmolpreet Singh, who scored 33 off 25 balls. Chahal went on to claim three more wickets, conceding 29 runs in his four overs.
